“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”
Welcome to Bluebird International School of Phnom Penh where our aim is to help build strong learning communities, a curriculum for the 21st century and beyond as well as focusing on students as lifelong learners with a future as global citizens.
The future for your children is vastly different from mine or from your working life. The child of today will move into a future where they may work in as many as four different fields and thus we need to provide them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to move fluidly and successfully through the changes that will occur for them.
Independent study skills, resilience, flexibility and self-motivation are key factors that will ensure they are prepared for a future filled with change. Our dynamic team of teachers is committed to helping our students develop these attributes, and learning, building and growing together.
This year will see the implementation of our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as an extension to our already successful EYFS curriculum in the 2-6 year old group. The IPC is a programme that has, at its center, the child as instigator of learning. Through inquiry and exploration students lead themselves and their teacher on a journey to discover what knowledge skills and understandings they have, can learn and can build on.
The diverse range of themes available to teachers means we can cater learning to individuals and to group ideas. Our foregrounding of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) also acknowledges the changes that have occurred in society and educational practice over the last 20 years. Through integration of information technology and research skills we are ensuring students are learning for the 21st century and beyond. The IPC is an exciting way of learning and it caters to the many ways children learn.
At Bluebird International School we work to provide learning experiences that foster growth, creativity and character development. Since real-life application and multi-sensory learning are at the core our approach to education, we are excited to embrace this world of immersive learning opportunities.
At Bluebird, we aim for the highest standards in care as well as education to ensure your children are well cared for on a daily basis. We prioritise teacher and health staff training and ensure all the personnel your child has contact with are versed in the latest educational practice and pedagogy.
I look forward to working with you and know that if we work together we will build a truly amazing community of learners.
Miss. Karen McArthur
